Deffenbaugh Homes is seeking a driven and dependable Carpenter Intern to join our team building custom, high-end homes throughout the Sioux Falls area. This role offers hands-on experience working alongside skilled craftsmen who take pride in delivering exceptional quality and attention to detail.
As an intern, you will gain exposure to all phases of residential construction, with a strong emphasis on precision, professionalism, and the elevated standards expected in luxury home building.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist lead carpenters and site supervisors with daily construction tasks
- Support framing, blocking, and installation of structural components
- Help with trim carpentry, cabinetry installation, and finish work
- Measure, cut, and assemble materials under supervision
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional job site
- Load, unload, and stage materials and tools efficiently
- Follow construction drawings, plans, and specifications
- Uphold job site safety standards and company expectations
Qualifications
- Strong interest in carpentry, construction, or skilled trades
- Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced craftsmen
- Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented mindset
- Basic knowledge of hand and power tools (preferred but not required)
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in varying weather conditions
- Reliable transportation to job sites in and around Sioux Falls
Preferred (Not Required)
- Enrollment in a construction, carpentry, or trade program
- Previous construction or labor experience
- Basic math and measuring skills
